BLOOMINGTON, IL – ONE People’s Campaign is pleased to announce our endorsement of Jackie Gunderson for Bloomington Mayor, Willie Holton Halbert for Bloomington Ward 3, Patrick Lawler for Bloomington Ward 5, and Kelby Cumpston for Bloomington Ward 7 in the Bloomington 2021 Municipal Election. ONE People’s Campaign (OPC) conducted a three-step process involving an extensive questionnaire, interviews led by constituents, and the participation of dozens of grassroots leaders from Bloomington-Normal in order to arrive at these endorsements. Through this process, these candidates stood out as champions of the issues OPC members care most about — affordable housing, police accountability, climate change, racial and immigrant justice.
“Starting in 2018, OPC’s work to grow a multi-racial movement to win governing power for everyday people has recruited hundreds of volunteers and engaged thousands of voters in Bloomington-Normal. We are excited to build on our strengths and elect a progressive majority on the Bloomington City Council so that we can pass legislation that will put people first,” said Louis Goseland, a Board Member of ONE People’s Campaign.
